Install Correctify
On Windows, download the app: it is free, signed, and updates itself. In your browser or Thunderbird, add the extension from the official store.

Correctify uses your own AI key. Google Gemini gives you one for free, in two minutes. Paste it once in the options and the provider is recognized on its own.

Highlight your text, then Ctrl + Alt + C on Windows, or right-click → “Fix the text” in the browser. The corrected text replaces the original, formatting included.

Frequently asked questions
Is Correctify really free?
Yes. The app and the extensions are free, with no ads and no subscription. You use your own API key: with Google Gemini’s free tier, everyday correction costs nothing. ChatGPT and Claude bill per use, a few cents for hundreds of corrections.
What is an API key, and how do I get one?
A personal code that lets Correctify use the AI on your behalf. You create it once at the provider (two minutes at Google), paste it in the options, and you’re done. The “Get an API key” page details every step, provider by provider.
Is my text stored anywhere?
No. The selected text goes straight to the AI provider of your key, then the correction comes back. It never goes through a middle-man server, and nothing is kept on my side.
Where does Correctify work?
On Windows 10 and 11 with the app, which fixes text in any program. And in Chrome, Firefox and Thunderbird with the extensions, including on Mac and Linux. Each version has its own page.
Which languages are supported?
The text’s language is detected automatically. Correctify fixes text in nearly every language the AI knows, including English and French. Text is never translated, only corrected.
Do I need an account?
No. You install Correctify, paste your API key once, and fix. No account, no sign-up.
How do I fix a text with AI?
Select the text where you are writing it, then Ctrl + Alt + C on Windows, or right-click → “Fix the text” in the browser. The selection goes to the AI behind your key and comes back corrected, in place. No copy-paste, no separate website to open.
How is an AI spell checker different from a classic one?
A classic checker applies a dictionary and a set of rules: it catches unknown words and obvious agreement errors. An AI spell checker reads the whole sentence and understands context, so it also catches clumsy phrasing, punctuation and the agreements that rules alone miss. Your text is corrected, never translated.
